This week I am back with a few card shares. Just some quick cards I whipped up in the Valentine’s Day spirit. This first card is for those of you who like perhaps a darker or quirkier side to Valentine’s Day. The card was inspired by a “Freaky Eyes” stencil I purchased on Etsy from the Wonderstrumpet stencil shop. Her unique and quirky stencils always inspire me and I just couldn’t resist this card.
To make the card I used:
1 sheet of black cardstock cut down to make a 6 1/2″ x 5″ card back, once folded
2 pieces of heavy stock watercolor paper cut to 6″ x 4 1/2″
1 “freaky eyes” stencil
Distress Spray Stain in Victorian Velvet
Black Archival Ink
Versamark mini embossing pad
Label maker for sentiment
and a little imagination.
I sprayed the watercolor paper with the Victorian Velvet Distress Spray Stain. I did one coat, let it dry then did a second.
Then I used the stencil and black archival ink to get my background of eyeballs.
The tricky part came when I tried to emboss some black glitter on a few of the eyes. Apparently, my paper wasn’t quite dry and the powder stuck everywhere!
So note, make sure it is very very dry.
I used double sided tape to adhere my stained watercolor paper to the black cardstock.
I then added a small black strip of cardstock remnant across the front to be the background for my label maker sentiment “I only have eyes for you”
On the inside, I placed with double sided tape a plain sheet of white watercolor paper (4 1/2″ x 6″) for writing and Voila! My quirky Valentines Day card.

Here are some photos of the finished project:
I hope this card will inspire you and that those creative juices are going. It’s fun to think outside the box sometimes and add some quirk to our daily lives.
