Tim Holtz Christmas Paper Doll Artist Trading Coin Ornaments

Tim Holtz Christmas Paper Doll Artist Trading Coin Ornaments

Hello Folks,
I am back and in this post, I share a way to use up some of the scraps we have left from our busiest card making time of the year.
So, last weekend I made about thirty (30) handmade Christmas cards. When I was all done I had all these lovely bits of scrapbook paper left over that were a bit on the small side. I hate to waste the paper so I started brainstorming on what I could do with them.
I knew I had some Artist Trading Coin swap mail coming up so I decided to use the bits for my background. I got out my 2.5″ hole punch by The Paper Studio (Purchased at Hobby Lobby) and I punched out four (4) pieces of watercolor paper and then four (4) pieces of scrapbook paper. Then the magic began.

1. I glued the scrapbook paper to the watercolor paper.
2. Using a small hole punch I punched a hole at the top of each card.
3. Prior to starting the project I pulled out my Tim Holtz Idea-ology Christmas Paper Dolls and pulled out the smallest ones I could find.
4. I also pulled out my Tim Holtz Idea-ology Christmas Ephemera Snippets and poured that on my desk.
5. I then went thru and matched a doll to ephemera for each card.
6. Next I grabbed my Tim Holtz Christmas Remnant Rubs and picked a phrase for each coin and rubbed it on.
7. Next I grabbed my Glossy Accents and used that to seal each card.
8. I let the coins dry overnight, as you are not supposed to heat them.
9. I then took my Potting Soil Archival ink and went around the edge of each one carefully to hide the white.
10. Next,I pulled out some if my Lawn Fawn twine and make a loop/string for each coin which now could also be an ornament.
11. My last step was to paint the back of each piece with some gold paint, and I signed it using a uni-ball black pen.

That was it. I had some simple ornaments that were also artist trading coins for swap mail and I was able to use up some of my stash which was also great.

7 Days of Halloween Day 2 – Tim Holtz Idea-ology Halloween 2018 Ephemera “Palm Reader” Halloween Card

7 Days of Halloween Day 2 – Tim Holtz Idea-ology Halloween 2018 Ephemera “Palm Reader” Halloween Card

Hello Again,

Welcome to Day 2 of my 7 Days of Halloween. Today I am featuring a super simple Halloween card. This card took me under ten minutes to make and is an easy way to use up bits of Halloween scrapbook paper, ephemera and toss in a bit of your favorite Halloween stencil too.

This project started with a standard black card ( 5″ x 6 1/2″ Landscape). I took a piece of Halloween scrapbook paper from a packet I had bought at Hobby Lobby and trimmed a 1/4″ off each side with my paper cutter so when I taped it to the card it would leave a black border. I used double sided tape to place the scrapbook paper onto the background. Now prior to taping the background down I did edge it with the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide in Carved Pumpkin. I also added to the background using black archival ink thru a “spirit board” stencil from StrumpetStencils on etsy (links below). I then picked out my pieces of ephemera I wanted from my Idea-ology Halloween 2018 Ephemera pack and edged those with Distress Oxide in Black Soot and Carved Pumpkin. I then used sticky thumb adhesive dots to attach them to the page, with some dimension. Voila!  A super quick and super easy Halloween card.

Here are some photos to stir those creative juices:

I know we love to save them but it’s time, break out those ephemera bits and get to making! Happy Halloween. I see a lot of fun in your future!

Under the Sea- Alcohol Lift Ink Mermaid Background

Under the Sea- Alcohol Lift Ink Mermaid Background

Hello, Lovelies,

Happy Saturday! I am back again with yes more Alcohol Lift-Ink because I am obsessed right now with seeing all the fabulous ways I can use this new supply. Today I bring you a fun summer themed background. I used the  5″ x 7″ Alcohol Ink Yupo paper and my new mermaid stamp to create a luscious, cool under the sea background. I’m not sure what she will bloom into yet, whether it’s a card or a tag, but at least I have the background for my stash.

This one was very easy:

  1. I used the Alcohol Ink Yupo Paper
  2. I applied several blue and purple colors of Alcohol Ink
  3. I used the Alcohol Blending Solution on a felt applicator to add more movement
  4. I used the Alcohol Iift-Ink and my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform to stamp the mermaid image
  5. I then used the stamp on a distress tag to transfer the alcohol ink that lifted.

Voila! Instant card background.

Here are some stills of the vibrant colors. Makes me want to go swimming!

Are you ready for summer! I sure am! I hope this brought you some summertime inspiration. Time to break out those alcohol inks and put then to new uses! Happy Crafting!
